Broke

That urge & want
for a puppy
died
today as I had to
hold my cat
against her will
to inject
medicine down
her throat

true,
for her own good,
but it broke
my heart
into little pieces,
& I will have
to do this twice
a day until
the medicine is
gone

it’s my
responsibility
