Work mode

Me about to hit chapter 3 of my story A One Night Stand. (digging my Mac's photobooth option, because I don't even have to stop working, it's just a matter of key commands & it'll take shots of whatever I'm doing hah)

  1. I either pity or envy that pen... not really certain which combination of those two...

  2. This one had me stumped all night on how to respond.
    That pencil in my mouth is no more than an assistant to the process. The pencil is meaningless, unless it is being used to write out what comes from w/in.
    I think I see what you mean though.
    From my experience, pity & envy are neither here nor there. Those two emotions are like fog to the mind. Envy, in particular, is poison. I tell myself frequently to not let the work or accomplishments of others trigger any emotion other than___ well, basically the thought, "Oh, good for them!" & just go about my business, because their work is their work & my work is my work. The two have nothing to do w/ one another. When it comes to fellow artists I like to think we glide side-by-side. However, not everyone is prone to putting out first the idea of simply being equal & able to potentially learn from one another, before developing an opinion involving compare & contrast/pro & con etc.
    In short, I say___ pull out a pencil & fumble it around in your fingers & mouth until something comes out (saying that more as a metaphor, since we all have our own methods). & if you so wish, send it my way, even take a picture! I'll smile w/ pleasure that you're doing your thing your way. ;}
